Most commercial dog grooming products contain the same synthetic chemicals found in human cosmetics: sulphates, parabens, artificial fragrance, and silicones. Dogs lick their fur — everything you apply ends up inside them. Natural grooming isn’t just better for the environment; it’s better for your dog’s long-term health.
Step 1: The Bath
Start with a shampoo bar rather than a liquid shampoo. Our Organic Oat & Lavender Shampoo Bar creates a rich lather, rinses completely clean, and doesn’t strip natural coat oils the way sulphate shampoos do. Wet the bar and apply directly to fur, or lather in your hands first. One bar lasts 50–80 washes.
Step 2: Brushing
A good brush makes all the difference. Natural bristle brushes and wooden combs distribute coat oils naturally and don’t create the static that plastic combs cause. Our Bamboo Slicker Brush and Wooden Double Comb cover every coat type from fine to thick double-coat.
Step 3: Paw Care
Check paws weekly. Hot pavements, salt, ice, and rough terrain all damage paw pads. Apply our Beeswax Paw Balm 2–3 times per week for protection and healing. It’s completely safe if licked — all five ingredients are food-grade.
Step 4: Between-Bath Freshening
Our Compostable Grooming Wipes handle muddy paws, post-park face cleaning, and quick coat refreshes between baths. Plant-fibre, biodegradable, and no alcohol or synthetic fragrance.
The full natural grooming kit — shampoo bar, brush, comb, paw balm, and wipes — costs approximately $83 from EthosPaw and will last 6–12 months for a medium-sized dog.
